About
Meet the Creator

“From as far back as I can remember, stories have played a fundamental role in my life.”

I was fortunate to grow up in a creative and colourful environment. My dad is a wonderful guitarist and songwriter, and my mum has always sung and been involved in the theatre. From a young age, I remember watching her perform on stage and I can recall the visceral buzz and excitement I felt in the theatre. The idea of people coming together, using their bodies and voices to tell a story, not only thrilled me but resonated deeply within me.
My passion grew through my time with Playbox Theatre, and in 2008 I completed my BA Hons in Performance at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
After leaving London, I felt called to a new path. I trained as a hypnotherapist and then as a counsellor and psychotherapist. In a way, I went from telling stories to listening to the stories of others. My work has shown me the healing power of sharing your story and knowing you’ve truly been heard.
While tracing my ancestry, I discovered we descend from Welsh travellers. I wondered if my ancestors might have been Cyfarwydd – travelling storytellers who delivered news and preserved culture and history through tales of love, magic and heroism. Though I can’t know for certain if my travelling ancestors were storytellers, this exploration reaffirmed how storytelling, one of the oldest forms of communication, helps us entertain, share experiences, and understand others.
Outside of work, I’m a mum to two fabulous little girls, Tabitha and Demelza.
When Covid hit and life became so uncertain, I began thinking about how I could weave therapeutic skills into bedtime stories to help my children and others navigate change.
And so Bright Minds and Tall Tales was born out of my love for storytelling and my belief in the power of creative work. It combines elements of performance, meditation, counselling and storytelling to offer a unique, therapeutic way of working with children and young people.
Bright Minds and Tall Tales is the next chapter in my story… I hope to share it with you.
